Social Services & Counseling
The grant-funded counselors who work with Embrace Kids Foundation are warm and caring individuals trained to help the child and his or her family better cope with the diagnosis and treatment. They assist the families in dealing with their grief, sense of loss, and sudden role changes.
In addition, these professionals are liaisons between the family and the medical team to help parents more fully understand their treatment options. The counselors are also able to educate the patient's brothers, sisters, and classmates about what exactly the child is going through. Counselors make suggestions to alleviate financial hardships created by the illness and coordinate support from other agencies and foundations. Crisis intervention is available for patients and families suffering from drastic changes in medical condition or other devastating events.
